The Christian Record Feb 1859: "Death has again visited our ranks, selecting as his victim the young and fair. On Thursday, Nov. 25th, our beloved cousin and brother, John Wesley, son of Benjamin and Elizabeth Crockett, fell asleep in Jesus in the 19th year of his age, at the residence of his father, near Salisburg, Greene County Indiana. His disease was consumption. He had been a member of the gospel, and it seemed to be his chief delight. He bore his affliction without murmuring, expressing no fear of death, even when he saw the near approach of the grim monster. He leaves a kind father and mother and a number of brothers and sisters to mourn his loss. Though he has been taken away from us, we sorrow not as those who have no hope. May we all so live that our death may be peaceful and happy, and that we may finally meet in glory. "
