Hoven - Carolyn G. Brenner, 73, Hoven, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at the Holy Infant Hospital, Hoven. She battled cancer courageously and died with her husband, Roman, by her side.

Carolyn's Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Hoven, with Father Lance Oser, celebrant. Burial follows at St. Anthony's Catholic Church Cemetery, Hoven. Organist will be Alice Simon and St. Anthony's Catholic Church Choir will sing. Mass servers will be Brayden Vogel, Jason Hageman, and Jeff Hageman. Eucharistic minister will be Elaine Seurer and lector will be Chuck Simon. Carolyn's grandchildren will be offertory gift bearers. There will be a Wake Service at St. Anthony's 4:30 p.m. Sunday with visitation beginning 3:30 p.m.

Carolyn Grace Doerr, daughter of Louise (Salvatori) and Francis J. Doerr, was born at Gettysburg on Aug. 6, 1932. She graduated from Agar High School in 1951 and from St. Mary's School of Nursing, Pierre, in 1954. Following her schooling, she moved to Hoven where she lived the remainder of her life.

She married Roman Brenner on Sept. 5, 1956, in Agar.

Carolyn was a dedicated nurse at Holy Infant Hospital for many years and will be remembered as a devoted mother who loved her family very much. She also enjoyed nursing and playing cards with her many friends. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, St. Anthony's Altar Society, and the Holy Infant Hospital Auxiliary.

Carolyn's survivors include her husband Roman Brenner of Hoven; three sons, Dan Brenner and his wife Penny, David Brenner and his wife Carolyn, and John Brenner and his wife Laura, all of Hoven; five daughters, Cynthia McCloud and her husband Gary of Hoven, Valerie Jacobsen and her husband Scott and Kristie Hauck and her husband Ron, all of Pierre, Lori Couser and her husband Patrick of Brookings, and Julie Torrence and her husband Darren of Aberdeen; three brothers, Raymond Doerr of Pierre, Charles Doerr and his wife Kathy of East Palo Alto, Calif., and John Doerr and his wife Laurie of Escondido, Calif; four sisters, Gertrude Lanham of Baldwin, Mo., Elaine Evans of Rapid City, Louise Frost and her husband Bob of Naples, S.D., and Frances Johnson of Denver, Colo.; 24 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father on March 20, 1949, her mother on June 28, 1997, and two infant sisters (Bernadette and Mary).

Honorary bearers will be Carolyn's many friends at the Hoven Senior Center and her co-workers at Holy Infant Hospital. Carolyn's sons and sons-in-law will serve as casketbearers.

Miller Funeral Home, Bowdle, is in charge of arrangements.
