PORTAGE -- Two Portage residents were killed and two other persons injured at the B & O overpass on US # 20 early today in a head-on crash.
Pronounced dead at scene was, Robert J. Hesting, Jr., 25, 9742 Pine place, and Mrs. Peggy T. Morley, 20, 115 Old Porter Rd., who died at Porter Memorial hospital at 4 a.m. Saturday. Hesting was driving a Volkswagon. The other car, a 1962 Chevrolet was driven by Earl Willshire 44, 345 Pierce St., Gary, was west bound and crossed the center line "for no apparent reason" and traveled into the outer east bound lane, stricking the car driven by Hesting.
According to police, both cars went off the edge of the overpass and down the embankment at impact.
