Dorothy was born to James C. and Kathleen W. Delaney Martin.

After graduating from Lewiston High School in 1937 she attended St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1942. She worked at Moscow's Gritman Memorial Hospital and for several physicians in the area.

She married Bernard F. Armstrong in Boise on June 8, 1943. Armstrong, a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Forces, was killed in a mission over Europe in May 1944.

She married Freeman C. Jones in Lewiston on May 7, 1955, and they moved to Longview, Wash., in 1957. In 1962 they returned to Lewiston, where she worked at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center until 1972. From 1974 until she retired in 1981 she was a nurse at the Lewiston Care Center. She was a blood bank volunteer until 1989.

Her husband died in 1982.

She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church, a member of the Lewiston Eagles, the Ladies of the Elks and Court Cataldo of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
She enjoyed travel and flower gardening.
