Death came to Gt. J. Vander Wilt Wednesday afternoon, Feb 16 after a lingering illness of several months. At the time of his death he had reached the age of 82 years and 4 months. He was born Oct. 16, 1866 at Pella, Iowa, and came to Sioux County with his parents at the age of 15 settling near Middleburg.

In 1890 he was united in marriage to Martha De Graaf and homesteaded near Middleburg where they resided for 40 years. ln 1930 they moved to O.C. where they have lived for the past 18. years.

Surviving are the widow and 5 children: Jennie (Mrs. Arie Bomgaars of O.C.), Frank Vander Wilt of Middleburg, Kathryn (Mrs. Henry Rowenhorst of O.C.), Sophie (Mrs. Gt. Koerselman of Middleburg), Dr. Dick Vander Wilt of Sibley.

Two sons preceded him in death: Anthony a young man of 19 died in 1913, and Herman passed away in the year 1944.

There are 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 brothers Herman and Walter Vander Wilt of Sioux Center, and 1 sister, Mrs. Wm Bomgaars of Newkirk.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the First Ref Church of O.C. with Rev. H. Colenbrander present pastor, and Rev. F.B. Mansen former pastor of the decedent, officiating. Interment was made in the Middleburg cemetery.
