Marguerite "Marge" C. Wagner, age 82, of Grawn passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer, January 10, 2014 at Grand Traverse Pavilions. She was born September 22, 1931 to Jacob and Anna (Zenner) Weber on the family farm in Mayfield Twp. Hannah/Kingsley, Michigan. She attended St. Mary's Hannah School for 12 years, graduating in 1949. Marge attended N.W. Michigan Practical Nursing School in September of 1949 to 1951. Once she graduated, she worked as an LPN for 8 years. She then attended classes to become a Registered X-Ray Technologist. She would go on to oversee the Cobalt Therapy Dept. at Munson Medical Center, later transferring to the Biederman Cancer Center as a Nurse Technician until her retirement in 1992 with 42 years at Munson.
On April 19, 1952 she married her best friend Richard "Dick" F. Wagner of Grawn while he served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp. They enjoyed 55 years together until his death in March of 2007.
Marge was a life time member of St. Mary's Hannah Parish and an avid supporter of the Catholic School, both financially and in works. She was a Eucharistic Minister and took communion to private homes and nursing facilities. Marge was a member of St. Mary's Men's and Women's Club, the choir, parish representative for the D.C.C.W., and a member of Right to Life. She volunteered with the Community Holiday Meals and the N.W. Michigan Blood programs. She was a member of Kingsley Retirees and the Buckley Old Engine Club. She and her husband raced Trotters over the years on the county fair circuit and later cared for their Belgian horses.
Marge is survived by one sister: Sister Aquinas Weber of Grand Rapids; brothers: Vincent Weber of Manistique, Ambrose Weber of Florida, Daniel Weber of Traverse City, Ray Weber of Kingsley, Jay (Donna) Weber of Buckley, and Joseph "Jack" (Mary Ellen) Weber of Grand Rapids; Sisters-in-law Barbara Weber of Kingsley, Patricia Weber of Stockton, Cal., Thelma "Sam" Weber of Traverse City; brother-in-law William "Larry" (Kay) Wagner of Kingsley; and many very special nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Besides her parents, Marge was preceded in death by her husband Richard, mother-in-law and father-in-law Frank and Nora (Nickerson) Wagner, sisters-in-law Bernadine Weber, Dorothy Weber, Ruth Weber, Lucille Weber, and Jeanette (Wagner) Amidon; brothers: Carl, Paul, and Clarence Weber.
A visitation will be held Monday, January 13, 2014 from 2-4pm and 6-8 pm at the Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley with a Rosary service at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 11am at St. Mary's Hannah Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Hannah Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Marge's name may be directed to St. Mary's of Hannah School – tuition program.
