Children are: Edwin, m, 19, farmer; Nancy, f, 18; Mary, f, 16; Elizabeth, f, 14; William, m, 11; Louiza, f, 9; Matilda, f, 7; Rhoda, f, 3; Lydia, f, 4; and Harriet, f, 1.

1860 Census, taken 6 Jul 1860, has Edwin Allen, 29, farmer, married to Martha, 29, living in 10th Civil District, Marshall County, TN. Children are: Florida, f, 5; Douglas, m, 4; and Bruce, m, 2. Also in the household is Isaac Chambers, m, 26

The web site nps.gov/civilwar/search shows two persons named Edwin Allen fighting for the confederate. Best guess is: he would have been the one who was in 5th Regiment, Tennessee Cavalry (McKenzie's) which took men from the counties of Polk, Hamilton, Meigs, McMinn, Bradley, Cocke, Hawkins, and Blount. He would have been 33 when organized. This Edwin Allen was a sergeant in Company D.
