Ernie was born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts to Joseph "Willie" LeBlanc and Antoinette (Fortier) LeBlanc. He was the first of their nine children. He took his role as "the eldest" seriously and served as a guide, help and mentor to his siblings throughout his entire life, mixing his sense of family and responsibility with his good humor and compassion. Ernie received his education at Mt. Carmel School in Elmsford, New York, and St. Albert's Seminary (Carmelite Friars) in Middletown, New York, and proudly served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He owned and operated a successful business in New Hampshire for almost five decades before retiring to Florida in 2000.
Ernie was a quiet, contemplative man of deep faith, dedicated to God and church, serving in extensive missionary roles both in Lebanon, New Hampshire and most recently at Holy Cross Parish in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was loving, generous and kind, always looking for the best in others and never judging.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor, hugs, and laughter. He lived life to the fullest enjoying classical music, reading, jig-saw puzzles, cards, golf and most of all sharing a meal and conversation with those who meant the most to him. He will be profoundly missed, but he will always be in the hearts of those whom he touched.
He is predeceased by his parents, his brothers Joseph Laurie and Joseph Yvon, his sisters Claire Sans, Lorette Miller and Alice Shaw. He is also predeceased by his first wife Irene Blain, whom he married in 1951; they lived in New Hampshire until her death in 2000. In 2001 Ernie married Rita Robillard in Florida, with Rita passing away in 2005. He is survived by his brother Emile (Chuck) LeBlanc, sisters June Moody and Frances Mulvey all of California, and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
