Fred C. Abbott
Fred C. Abbott, 79, of Monticello, died at 1:30 a.m., Friday, April 27, 1984 at his home of an asthmatic heart condition.
Born in Dane County, near Mt. Vernon, on Dec. 1, 1904, he was the son of William and Eliza Everill Abbott. He attended rural schools and was married to Stella Feldt on June, 5, 1929, in Monroe. They farmed in Mt. Pleasant Township until 1960, when they moved to Monticello, where he served as a substitute mail carrier. Mr. Abbott also was the custodian at the Zwingli Church of Christ for many years. His first wife died on March 31, 1965. He was then married to Helen L Elmer on Sept. 3, 1967. She died July 2, 1982.
Survivors include one son. Robert, of Sterling, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. James (Shirley)
Rogers, Oregon, Ill.; one step-son, Clarence Elmer, Jr., Manitowoc; a brother, Edwin of
Monroe; four sisters, Alice Hauri, Ellen Burkhard, Monroe, Anna Block, Paynesville, Minn.
and Laura Schuler, Charlette, N. C.; nine grand-children and 12 great-grand-children.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1919; his mother in 1959; two brothers, Claude and Clarence; and one sister, Florence Lee.
The deceased was a member of the Zwingli United Church of Christ; its Men's Brotherhood
and Adult Fellowship; the New Glarus Masonic Lodge, 310 and New Glarus Chapter Order of Eastern Star, 225.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the Zwingli United Church of Christ with the
Rev. Charles G. Workman officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe.
