ALTAVISTA, VA - Addie Ruth Taylor Brackett passed away on April 21, 2014. She was 89, born in Farmville, NC to Addie Ellen Tyson Taylor of Farmville and Jasper (Jack) Lee Taylor of Bethel NC, who predeceased her, and whom she missed until April 21. She graduated from Maury High School and spent most of her adult life in Norfolk and Newport News. In addition to her parents, she joined also many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters- and brothers-in-law, her husband, John Ray Brackett, her brother and sister, John Aaron ("J.A.") Taylor and Virginia Lee Taylor Harris, a grandson, Matthew Aaron Greenberg, and her niece and nephew, Michael Glen Taylor and Mary Lee Taylor Rinear. She is survived by an aunt, Ellen Taylor Williams, four children, John Ray Brackett, Jr., Pamela Gayle Brackett Greenberg (Stephen), Cathy Ellen Brackett Rountrey (William), and Jeffrey Lee Brackett (Deborah); 6 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, 5 great-grandsons, 1 great-granddaughter, her sisters-in-law Mary Brackett, Lois Brackett Shriver, and Mary Margaret Monahan Taylor, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins, their children and grandchildren. She loved them, one and all. Family visitation at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel in Norfolk at 10 AM on Saturday, April 26, memorial service at 11 AM, interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Brackett's memory are requested to be made to Union Mission Women & Family Shelter, 5100 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23502.
