August Thomas Oppe, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

August was born August 9, 1934, in Chillicothe, IL, the son of August Joseph and Anna Lapp Oppe. He married Donna Lee Duffy on August 7, 1954, in Brimfield. She preceded him in death on November 12, 2013.

Surviving are his children, Thomas Lee (Vernel) Oppe of Canton, Larry (Annette) Oppe of Hanna City, Joe (Cindy) Oppe of Yates City, and Lynn Ann (Dena Lewis) Oppe of Brimfield. Also surviving are three brothers, Walter, Warren, and Eldon, and two sisters, Mildred Gillis, and Leota Herbert. His parents, one daughter, Kathy Ann Oppe, one brother, Joe Oppe, and three sisters, Ida Burbridge, Helen Schwend, and Mary Anna Mathews preceded him in death.

Tom retired from Caterpillar in 1985, and enjoyed retirement by helping family and friends.

Burial will be in Brimfield Cemetery.
