Sarah E. Judd Hewitt was born October 20, 1860, in Tyler county, West Virginia. She died Sunday morning, May 25, 1941, at the home of her son, Henry Judd at the age of 80 years. Her death was the result of heart disease and cancer of the stomach.

When she was 7 years of age she moved with her parents to Iowa. Later she was married to Pard C. Judd, coming to Missouri soon after. They settled near Rover in this community. To this union was born 6 children, one dying in infancy. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. V. S. Brewer of near Alton, Mrs. William Baty of Big Apple, and three sons, Henry and James Judd of Rover and Walter Judd of Mountain View. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive as do two sisters, Mrs. Ida Winslow of Burlington, Iowa, and Mrs. Lide Rector of Des Moines, Iowa. Mr. Judd passed away in 1920.

Sometime later Mrs. Judd went to Iowa for a visit and while there married Ephraim Hewitt, a friend of childhood days. They returned to Rover, and Mr. Hewitt died in 1936. Mrs. Hewitt then made her home with her son, Henry. She had been a member of the Methodist Church about 41 years and was a highly respected citizen loved by all who knew her.
