J. J. Moynihan Dies; Funeral Wednesday
Services for John Joseph Moynihan, 70, of Molloy road, East Syracuse, R. D. 4, a veteran Syracuse printer, who died yesterday at his home, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Russell H. Schepp Funeral Home, Minoa.
The Rev. Clarence C. Walker of the Immanuel Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens.
A printer for 53 years, Mr. Moynihan was employed by the Syracuse Journal until it merged with the Syracuse Herald. He retired from the Herald-Journal a year ago.
A member of Immanuel Baptist Church, he was a deacon of the church and had served as Sunday School superintendent for 15 years. He was Bible teacher of the men’s class.
Mr. Moynihan was a member of Local 55, International Typographical Union.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Emily Roome Moynihan; two daughters, Mrs. Spencer T. Snyder of Rome and Mrs. George Ebeling of Fayetteville; four sons, William E. Chetwin of Brooklyn, Daniel and Charles Moynihan of Kirkville and Richard Moynihan of East Syracuse; four sisters, Mrs. Nellie Fonda, Mrs. Alice Dailey, Mrs. Charles Hastings and Mrs. Ernest Money, all of Syracuse; a brother, Thomas A. Moynihan of Syracuse; 24 grandchildren and six great-grandchiildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow at the funeral home.
