She was born in January 1899 as Cornelia Hazina Heusdens in the city of Hellevoetsluis, about 20 miles southwest of Rotterdam, in the southwestern part of the Dutch southwestern province Zuid-Holland, daughter of Cornelis Heusdens and Adriana Francina Kalkman

On 13 May 1913 Cornelia Heusdens (14 y, born in Hellevoetsluis), her mother Adriana (36, Den Briel, married), her siblings Cornelis (18, Hellevoetsluis), Magdalena (12, Hellevoetsluis), Pieter (10, Hellevoetsluis), Jan (8, Hellevoetsluis), Jannetje (6, Parel, South Africa) and Antoni (4, Rotterdam) arrived on the S.S. Cornelia (Cora) Heusdens married on 26 September 1919 in Racine, Racine County, Wisconsin to the three years older Harry Tuinstra.

In 1920 Cornelia (20 y, born in Holland, immigrated in 1917 [sic]) and her husband Harry Tuinstra (23, Illinois) lived in Ward 9 of the city of Racine, seat of Racine County, located on the shore of Lake Michigan at the mouth of the Root River, in the southeastern part of Wisconsin.

In 1930 Cora H (31, Holland, immigrated in 1916 [sic]), her husband Harry Tuinstra (34), their children Grace C (9, Wisconsin), Florence (5, Wisconsin), and Harry (3, Wisconsin) lived still in the city of Racine.

In April 1940 Cora (41), her husband Harry Tuinstra (43, farmer), their children Grace (19), Audrey (15), Harry (13), Cornelius (6, Wisconsin) and Barbara (0, Wisconsin) lived at a rented farm in Mount Pleasant Town, Racine County, Wisconsin. They lived in 1935 at a rural place in Columbia County, in the midsouthern part of Wisconsin.

Cornelia died on 21 September 1968 at the age of 69 years in the St. Luke's Hospital at Milwaukee, following a lingering disease. Her widower Harry Tuinstra died in March 1981 at the age of 85 years at Quincy Avenue in Racine, Racine County, Wisconsin.
