Inez (Annesley) Strategier, 85, of Norman passed peacefully Friday, April 25, 2014, with her children by her side. She was the youngest child, born May 30, 1928, in Waldron, Ark., to Lou Ann Yandell and U. S. Grant Annesley.

Inez moved with her family to the Goldsby area, where she started school in 1934 in a four-room schoolhouse. On Saturdays, Inez would ride to town with her father in a covered wagon. In the early 1940s, she moved to Norman and began working at the University Commissary soon after.

Inez met the love of her life, J.B. Strategier, at The Diner on East Main Street in 1947. They were married April 17, 1948, in Norman, where they lived and raised their three children. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Strategier; her grandson, Grant Bernard Strategier; her parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include Phil Strategier and his wife Gay of Norman, Pam Strategier Panter of Collierville, Tenn., and Greg Strategier and his wife Jamie of New Orleans; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Inez will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Havenbrook Funeral Home chapel, 3401 Havenbrook St. in Norman, with interment following at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Norman. The Rev. Jerry Rhoades will officiate.
