Daughter of Odias Menard and Alzire Bernard Menard.
Wife of Gervais Hoffpauir.
Although Lucille and Gervais had no children of their own, Lucy(as friends and family called her) helped raise quite a few of her nieces and nephews. The kids would come stay for an extended period with her and Gervais and would get to help with all the farm animals and the chores that went along with them: feeding the chickens and guineas, gathering the eggs, bringing in the cows, helping with the milking. One of my personal favorite memories is that Nanny used to squirt milk in the happy mouths of anxiously waiting farm kittens while she sat milking the cows! What fun for a city kid! Her cooking was out of this world and everything was homemade from scratch. The aroma of her roast beef still lingers in my mind after all these many years. She made the BEST fig preserves from the figs off her own trees. Nanny was one of the most kind and loving people I've ever had the priviledge of knowing. I know her beautiful soul is in Heaven with her Father.
