In 1943, Syb married Verlan Kilbourne in Duluth, while Verlan was serving in the U.S. Army during World War II.
In 1945, Verlan and Syb moved to Windom, where Syb was a homemaker, raising their five children.
After Verlan’s death in 1986, Syb continued living near Windom until recently becoming a resident of Sogge Good Samaritan Center in Windom.
She was a member of the Lakeside Extension Group for many years as well as Bible study groups.
In addition to her husband Verlan, Syb was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Kilbourne; and a brother, Earl Schwanke.
