A native of Ballinger, Texas, he was a service engineer for Keller Oil Field Service, and a member of the Island Baptist Church in New Iberia.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Ann; three sons, Billy and Danny Shields, both of Corpus Christi, and Jeffery Shields of New Iberia; his mother Ivy Shields of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Mrs. Rosalie Smith of Houston, Mrs. Ruby Sens of Fullerton, Calif.; two brothers, Leon Shields of Corpus Christi, Calvin Shields of Midlands, Tex.; one grandson.
Funeral services will be at 3:30pm Thursday in the Grace Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Eldon Johnson and the Rev. Terry Douglass officiating. Burial will follow in Seaside Memorial Park. Cage-Mills Everhart Chapel.
