Jeduthan Torrance, William Torrance and Hepzibah Batcheller's firstborn, was baptized at Brookfield, Massachusetts, on June 4, 1775. He married Eunice Gibbs at Greenwich, Massachusetts, in August 1796.

The Torrances had eleven children. Elizabeth (m. John B. Montgomery) was born at Greenwich. Shortly after that, the Torrances moved to nearby Enfield. This town no longer exists, as it was flooded during the 1930s when the Quabbin Reservoir was built. Their other children were:John (m. Mary Brown), Patty (m. Silas Boynton), Eunice (m. Samuel P. Cook), Luke Gibbs (m. Sarah J. Wood), Thomas (m. Mary Latham and Lavinia Unknown), Mary (m. William R. Collins), Prudence H.(m. Thomas Hunter Jr.), Jeduthan (m. Emma Bartlett), Charles, and William Sinclair (m. Mary Jane Whitcomb).

Jeduthan died at Hadley, Massachusetts, on October 30, 1848. He was 73, according to his baptismal record and the date on his tombstone. His death certificate, however, gives his age as 72 years, 10 months, and 1 day - giving him a December 1775 birthday. Obviously, his baptismal record shows that he was born a half-year earlier. The death record indicates that he was a peddler. Jeduthan was laid to rest at Hadley Cemetery.

Not long after her husband's death, Eunice (Gibbs) Torrance left Massachusetts. She joined several of her sons and daughters as Oregon Territory pioneers. Oregon records show that she died in Portland, Oregon, at age 87, on June 20, 1865, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Hunter.
