Kim Chambers Bergsten, 52, passed away peacefully at her home in Tempe on May 8, 2007.

Kim was born in Indianapolis on July 8th, 1954, and moved to Arizona in 1976.

She is survived by her 2nd husband Al Bergsten, her mother Patricia Lou (Greene) Calton, father Jack Lee Chambers, Stepmother; Anita Jean Marshburn, Stepfather; Kelly James Calton; 9 brothers and sisters, Jackie Lynnette, Terry Anne, Edna Michelle, Russell David, Scott Kevin, Steven Shawn, Stefhan Lee; Donna Jean Caroline, David Brent Caroline and many nieces and nephews.

Kim was an ASU graduate and a trained Urban Geographer, Kim was a widely known and respected Environmental Consultant. She recently worked for WD Schock, and was considered an expert in her field and an "environmental goddess." An avid collector of: art, Fiesta Ware, all things Mexican, local wine, dogs in need and good friends, Kim was always searching for her next challenge. Whether it was walking a half marathon, planning trips around the world with her husband, or discovering just the perfect vineyard, once her mind was made up to accomplish something, she did not fail.

Kim was passionate about the current state of affairs at home and abroad. A life-long Democrat, she cared deeply about her country, urban planning, and the future of Tempe. She spent as much time as possible discovering places in her beloved Arizona even she had not noticed before. Every plant, flower and cacti was known to her, and she could cultivate them all in her own yard. Many friends benefited from her horticultural knowledge, and from the copious amounts of fresh herbs from her garden. Countless loved ones mourn her passing, but are grateful for her gifts of knowledge and compassion, the examples of the can-do attitude she set, and the joy she shared with all. A private celebration of her life will be held in the near future. Send contributions in her name to VistaCare Hospice
