WEST COLUMBIA - Funeral services to celebrate the life of Charles Farrell "Pete" Crout, will be held at3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Park Street Baptist Church, 2204 Park Street, Columbia, SC 29201. Dr. Lawrence Dennis will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Honorary pallbearers will be The Park Street Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class.
After a long illness, Pete went peacefully to meet his Lord on Sunday, April 27, 2014. Born November 11, 1930 in Leesville, SC he was the son of the late Charlie H. and Loucia Shealy Crout. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather who spent countless hours with his children and grandchildren. He was a general contractor for 50 years. He was a member of E.C. Gayle SundaySchool class at Park Street Baptist Church and was also a member of Woodmen of the World Unit #273. He served in the National Guard and loved to fish and hunt.
Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Gwendolyn Margaret Jones Crout of West Columbia; daughter, Darlene Crout Saxon of Lexington, son, Keith Crout (Patty) of West Columbia; grandsons, Brandon Saxon (Lorraine) of Irmo, Blake Saxon of Charleston, Kevin Crout of West Columbia and Cory Crout (Connie) of West Columbia; great-grandchildren, Hayden Deprill of Irmo, Brantlee and Baylor Saxon of Irmo and Shianne and Brahnan Crout of West Columbia; and brother, Lynwood Crout of West Columbia.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys C. Bodie and two brothers, Gerald G. Crout and Donald W. Crout.
