Edward J.T. Proud

Edward J.T. Proud, 79, of 245 Delafield Avenue West Brighton, a resident of Staten Island 65 years, died Thursday in his home after a short illness.

A native of St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, Mr. Proud came to the Island with his family in 1882. Active in church work, he was organist in Christ Episcopal Church, New Brighton, for many years. He was a member of Richmond Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons.

An architect and engineer in the Department of Housing and Buildings, Mr. Proud served the city department 30 years. Surviving are his wife, Charlotte E.; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth P. Hartung of the Delafield Avenue address, and Mrs. Hazel M. Beinert of 610 Victory Boulevard, Silver Lake; a sister, Mrs. George Amland of St. John, and five grandchildren.

A Masonic service will be conducted tomorrow night at 8 o'clock in the Silver Funeral Home, 33 Decker Avenue, Port Richmond. The Rev. Orin Griesmeyer, rector of St. Mary's Epicopal Church, West Brighton, will conduct a funeral service Monday morning at 11 o'clock in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the family plot in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
