Funeral services for Mrs. Nina L. Scales, 67 years old, 37 east 55th street. Indianapolis, were held Monday in the Flanner and Buchanan Broad Ripple mortuary. Entombment was in Washington Park North Mausoleum.
Mrs. Scales, who died Friday in Methodist hospital, formerly lived in Delphi when her husband Ortho L. Scales, was superintendent of schools here, after they moved to Indianapolis he was general manager of the Enos Coal sales division of Pickands Mather & Co. and president of the Indianapolis Young Men’s Christian Association in 1957. For many years they maintained a beautiful summer home on Lake Freeman.
Mrs. Scales was born in Pike county and had lived in Indianapolis since 1924. She was a member of Broadway Christian Church.
Survivors, besides the husband, include: two sons, John W. Scales, of Indianapolis, and Richard L. Scales, of Wabash; a daughter, Mrs. Mildred L. Thurston, of Indianapolis; two brothers, Jesse Julian, of Evansville, and J. F. Julian, of Spurgeon; a sister, Mrs. Oscar Toole, of Oakland City, and eight grandchildren.
