Herbert H. Vanderwood
Vernon – Herbert H. Vanderwood, 61, Yerkies Trailer Park, Route 26, night maintenance supervisor for Oneida – Madison Counties BOCES, died Saturday in his home after a long illness.
Mr. Vanderwood was born Aug. 15, 1915, in Clinton, son of Herman and Jenny Adams Vanderwood, and attended school in Vernon.
He married the former Florence Jobes on July 2, 1947, in Folkson, Ga.
Mr. Vanderwood was a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict, having served with the Navy. He retired from the service in 1956.
He was a protestant and a member of William Russell post, American Legion.
Besides his wife and mother of Floyd, he leaves three sons, James Vanderwood, Vernon; Joseph Vanderwood, Floyd, and Kenneth Vanderwood, Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Miss Georgian Vanderwood, at home, and Mrs. Jerry (Aleica) Brown, Nashua, N. H., and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Malecki Funeral Home, Vernon. Burial will be in Skinner Cemetery, Vernon Center. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
