GILES E. BACON
Giles E. Bacon, 87, of Sunderland, died Thursday night at Putnam Memorial Hospital. He was the son of Edward and Selina (Holton) Bacon, born in Sunderland Aug. 30, 1885.
Mr. Bacon had been employed at Hotel Brooks in Brattleboro and also at the Battenkill Inn and Equinox House in Manchester, where he was a boiler fireman. He had also worked at the old Bert Packer's Spool Mill in Sunderland.
Survivors are four sons; Roland of Hilton Head, S.C., Clifford of Sunderland, Phillip of Nassau, N.Y., and Stewart of Westmoreland, N.H.; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy B. Powers of Bennington and Mrs. Shirley Doyle of Northampton, Mass. A son, Robert, is deceased. His wife died in 1938. Twenty-four grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren are also left.
Calling hours at Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home in Arlington are today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. John Geer, pastor of the East Arlington Federated Church, officiating.
If friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Arlington Rescue Squad through the funeral home.
