Born in a log cabin at the foot of Crane Mountain, Johnsburg, Warren Co., NY. Alice was the youngest of 9 children of William Bates Jr. & Maria L. McKee, she married in 1908 to Wesley C. Bennett. She was a cook in an Adirondack logging camp briefly after her marriage, a house wife, mother to Iva, Myrtle & Eva, a loving & beloved grandmother of 9 and great grandma of many. She lived in North Creek, and then moved a few times as she and Wesley lived with daughter Iva Kilbourne. They ended up in Sauquoit, NY for 33 years and her final 18 months were spent in Clearwater and Tarpon Springs, FL. She and her husband would spend lengthy periods with their daughter Myrtle Robinson in Summit, NJ, and with dau. Eva Pelletier in Edmeston, NY. She enjoyed reading, writing, scrap booking & genealogy. She even put together a home made soft covered book of family history & genealogy for each of her 9 grandchildren. She was a devoted and loving wife to Wesley for 64 years. She was cremated and her ashes were buried at her husbands plot, by her sons-in-law Fred Kilbourne & William Robinson in the rain, while others waited at the Church.

You are loved beyond words missed beyond measure
Your life was a blessing your memory a treasure

I was lucky enough to know Great Grandma at the same time I was very interested in the family tree.
