BURLEY • Joseph Levi Garrett, our loving son, brother and uncle, returned home to the arms of our Heavenly Father on Monday, April 28, 2014, at the age of 31.
Levi was born April 19, 1983, in Burley, Idaho, to Julie Anderson Petersen and Alan H. Garrett. Levi was an entrepreneur his entire life. His latest endeavor was manufacturing, selling and operating mechanical bulls. Levi also loved to do gardening, landscaping and construction. He beautified the land throughout his life. He had recently finished planting his garden, getting ready for a fruitful growing season. Plain and simple, he could build anything. He loved working with his hands and everything he put his passion into always turned out beautiful.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served an honorable mission in Japan. He loved the Lord and strived to show love to every person regardless of race, cree, or age. His loving smile and contagious laughter could melt through anyone's bad day.
Levi loved to fish and hunt, where he made many great memories with his family and friends. Levi was a world traveler and he loved being exposed to new cultures and people. He has left the world dotted with memories and friends from Brazil to Italy, Sweden and all over the United States. His latest job endeavor allowed him to become intimately familiar with all parts of America. The friends that he made will forever be blessed by Levi's open-armed hugs and fun loving spirit.
Levi loved all his family with every ounce of his heart. He loved to play with his nieces and nephews and they could not wait to spend time with him. Levi loved to hear the sound of laughter, and he was gifted at making every occasion filled with laughter. He did anything to help out and show his love and devotion. He was a lover, a peacemaker, a daredevil, a joker, a friend, a brother, an uncle, a son and a true cowboy.
He is survived by his loving mother, Julie Petersen; his father, Alan Garrett; stepfather, Lynn Petersen; three sisters, Jennifer Bingham, Lacey Story and Kayleigh Boesiger; four brothers, McKay Garrett, Brian Petersen, Trevor Petersen and Ethan Petersen; grandmothers, Bonnie Schenk, Lorraine Hogg and Afton Petersen; and grandfathers, Leonard Schenk and Carl Hogg. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Bill Anderson, Jay Garrett and Earl Petersen; his uncles, Bill Anderson and Mont Garrett; and his beloved great-grandmother, Rosetta Higley. We know they have welcomed our sweet cowboy back home with loving arms.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 5, at the Pella LDS Church, 160 W. 400 S. of Burley. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St. in Burley, and from 10-10:45 a.m. Monday at the church.
