Died at age 83 years old on July 20th, 2012 at Shaver Hospital in St. Catharines after suffering a stroke. Ronald was born in Niagara Falls Ontario on Dec 27, 1928 and attended St. Patrick school and parish. He moved to BC in 1960 where he was a plasterer and has resided since. In his youth Ron was a Welter Weight Boxer along with his 2 brothers Ray and John at the Hecter Olivero Boxing Club in Niagara Falls, NY. He was also an avid skier, and loved golf and cycling. He was the son of Blanche and Joseph McGibbon of Niagara Falls and is survived by his brother Ray McGibbon and sisters Daisy Vitch, Lucy Swan, and Anita McGibbon and will be deeply missed by numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by brothers John McGibbon and Gerald McGibbon, his sister Ruth McGibbon and niece Linda Brooker. Ron was deeply religious and spent his life in the service of others he was a member of Legions of Mary, Knights of Columbus, and was a parishoner of the Holy Names Parish in BC. Ron was a gentleman in every sense of the word, and was a devoted Catholic who lived his faith. He was deeply loved and appreciated by family and friends and spent his life in the service of others. He had many friends in BC as well as Niagara Falls who will greatly miss him.
