Mr. Spink was born the son of Jerome and Mattie (Baker) Spink at Moville, Iowa on Nov. 9,1894. He was a veteran of World War I and later became a charter member of Nash Post #140, American Legion of Kingsley. A past commander and a 50 year member, he had been a service officer for 20 years in theorganization.
On Sept. 17, 1919;- he was united in marriage to Farsina Fletcher at Sioux City, and he made his home in the rural Kingsley community. Mrs. Spink died in 1952.
He married Margie Penner on December 10, 1952, at Sioux City and since that time had made his home in Sioux City. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Kingsley.
Survivors include widow, 2 sons; Vance and Jerry, both of Kingsley; 2 daughters; Sally (Mrs. Dwight Puttmann) of Kingsley; and Secret (Mrs. Ed Plendl) of Kingsley; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 stepdaughters; Mrs. Ruth Winann, of Denison, Iowa; and Mrs. Theresa Kuehl, of Schleswig, Iowa; 8 stepgrandchildren; and 17 step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 1 daughter ' and 1 granddaughter.
Funeral services for Mr. Spink were held Friday. May 4,1979, at 10;30 a.m. from the United Methodist Church at Kingsley, with Rev. Gordon Watson officiating. The congregation sang "What A Friend We Have In Jesus." The organist was Mrs. Gordon Watson. The casketbearers were Gaylen Spink, Cecil Spink, Delbert Spink, Jospeh Courtright, Fred Hayden, and Fred Sands.
Interment was in the Kingsley Cemetery where Harold Mulford conducted military rites. The Dickison Michaelson Funeral Home of Kingsley was in charge of arrangements.
