Helen F. Fifer

Age 93 of Wyoming, DE died Saturday, December 31, 2005, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 12, 1912 in Rocky Mount, VA, daughter of the late Mary and George Curtis Flora. In 1932, Mrs. Fifer and her husband began farming in Wyoming and building what today is the Fifer Orchards in Wyoming. Mrs. Fifer was very dedicated to her family and faith and had traveled the world extensively, lending support to many missions world wide. Literacy was extremely important to Mrs. Fifer and she was very active in the Laubach Literacy Program. Mrs. Fifer was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Farmington and also attended Wyoming United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Round Table Club of Wyoming and Camden, a life member of the Delaware Grange, a member of the Delaware Farm Bureau and participated in numerous prayer and Bible study groups. She enjoyed traveling, going to the beach and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Fred Fifer, on October 13, 1981; and a son, Charles Frederick Fifer, III, on March 5, 1995. She is survived by 2 sons, Carlton Fifer and his wife, Barbara, of Wyoming, DE, Larry Fifer of Milford and his former wife, Nancy Fifer, of Lewes, DE; a daughter, Mary Fennemore and her husband, Mike, of Wyoming, DE; daughter-in-law, Mary Catherine Fifer Postlethwait of Wyoming, DE; grandchildren, Mark Fifer and his wife Bess of New York City, NY, Susan Fifer Ellis and her husband Todd of Roanoke, VA, David Fifer and his wife Ruth, Bobby Fifer, Curt Fifer, all of Wyoming, DE, John Fifer and his wife, Barbara, of Smyrna, DE, Michael Fennemore and his wife, Tracy, of Charlottesville, VA and Jason Fennemore of Wilmington, DE; great grandchildren, Ian Fifer of Smyrna, DE and Evan Fennemore of Charlottesville, VA; 2 sisters-in-law, Clara Fifer of Dover, DE and Mary Fries Fifer of Frederick, MD; and an extended family of many nieces, nephews and friends.
