"Wayne" Zimmerman, as he was called, was the son of Milo and Ferol Mitchell Zimmerman. He was married on September 2, 1944 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Barbara L Wilkerson. He worked at Cummins and Indiana Vocational School. Wayne had eight siblings: Vivian, John, "Jane", "Bob", Earl, Betty, Doris, and "Dick". He became foster child after the death of his mother. He and his brother Earl lived with their foster mother Mrs. Ada Royer.
