Robert was in the Army, attached to the 3rd Armor division. He leaves behind his father Harry V. Schindler, his Mother Dorothy J. (Forseyth) Schindler. His 2nd and current wife Geraldine (Sharkey) Schindler, and two step-children, and his first wife Linda Lou Seabolt, mother to his 2 children.

Bob or "Vince" as he liked to be called lived in Indianapolis, Indiana before his tragic death in a car accident. His reason for changing his name to "Vince" is because there were too many "Bobs" in his Army unit.

Robert liked to style his hair after Elvis Pressley during his high school years. and to this writer was a good dresser. Like most of the "Schindler" boys including his father and 2 generations of uncles he was or could be called a "rascal", as he liked to jode and play tricks on his friends and almost everyone.

He went to John Harris High School and his major subject was "printing', from the days before there was such a thing as Vo-Tech in the Harrisburg schools. He served in the US Army Mostly at Fort Hood in Texas. Fort Hood is in the middle of a triange between Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, and Austin Texas. He often talked about the two small towns on the post entrances Kileen and Temple, that were soldier hang-outs when off duty, unless they had a few days leave, and then it was down to Mexico.

One of his big jokes was saying if he ever went AWOl (abensence without leave) he could be walking for days or weeks and the MP's would still be able to see him out in the desert if he were still alive and standing as the country was so baron. He met and married his first wife in Texas even though her family was from Indiana.

After his 3 years military service "Vince" lived in Indianapolis, Indiana with his wife and worked at International Harvestor. He had separated from his wife and remarried, before his history and life ended tragically in a car accident.
