He was born 26 November 1948 in Chillicothe, Ohio the son of the late Cornelius "Neal" Tackett and Frozie (Montgomery) Tackett. On 25 June 1972, Gary was united in marriage to Darlene (Camelin) Tackett, who survives.
Also surviving are a son Clinton Wayne Tackett of Lucasville, Ohio, eight grandchildren, Chelesa, Hope, Marissa, Logan, Desire, Nicholas, C. J. and Seira Tackett and seven sisters, Joyce Haddox and husband Elwood, Shirley Welch, Rosalene Malone and husband John, Nana Dempsey and husband Ronald all of Chillicothe, Ohio, Sherry Plowman and husband Tom of Lexington, Kentucky, Caroline Daloisi of Waverly and Nola Braucher of Galena, Ohio.
His parents and a brother Jimmie Neal Tackett preceded Gary in death.
He was a retired employee of Nourse Family Dealership, Chillicothe.
Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2014 in Caldwell Cemetery.
