Charles was the son of Alexander and Phebe Pool; born in Wyandotte Co., Ohio; he married Adelia Sherman (daughter of John and Amanda Sherman, born in PA) on Nov. 1, 1869 in Green Co., WI (as per “Wisconsin Marriages, 1836-1930).

As per, “Wisconsin Births and Christenings, 1826-1926, Charles and Adelia had a daughter on July 27, 1881 in Monroe, Green Co., WI. In 1870, as per United States Census, 1870, Charles, age 30, is listed with his wife, Adelia, age 20, residing in WI. In 1875 (as per Wisconsin State Census, 1875), Charles was living in Monroe, Green Co., WI with 2 other White Males and 2 White Females. In 1880, as per “United States Census, 1880” Charles is living in Monroe, Green Co., WI with his wife Adelia, age 50 and son, Freddie, age 8. His occupation is blacksmith. In 1890, Charles is listed in “United States Census of Union Veterans and Widows of the Civil War, 1890” residing in Monroe, Green Co., WI. Also in 1890, Charles is listed in “United States General Index to Pension Files” with beneficiary listed as Adelia Pool; service C 2, Mo. Cav. and 4 Ohio Inf. Date of filing – Invalid – July 12, 1890; Widow – Jan 30, 1913.

Mr. Pool enlisted during the Rebellion; served in Merrill's Horse Cavalry, was in the Red River expedition, but was mostly on picket duty. Mr. Pool is a blacksmith by trade. He resides at Monroe, Green Co., Wis., in 1882, where he carries on a shop
