Bass the eldest of three brothers, was a healty, normal child. But by age seven, he suffered from a minor case of rheumatism, and things began to change. Eventually Bass became completly ossified. The rheumatism led to ankylosis of all his joints. Bass didn't suffer any pain. He was exhibited at the World's Museum in Fort Wayne, Indiana and at Niagara. He also worked at Huber's 14th Street Museum in New York City. He became ill with pneumonia and a fever and died on September 13
