Tommy F. Adkins age 71, of Bimble, was born on August 31, 1942 at Bandytown, West Virginia. He was a son of Elsie Ramsey Adkins and the late Robert "Kern" Adkins. Tommy died Saturday, May 3, 2014 in the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
He was the Post Master at the Bimble Post Office for thirty-eight years before retiring and served in the United States Marines. On August 22, 1970, he united in marriage to Charlotte Callihan and to this union two beloved children were born.
Tommy is survived by his dear wife, Charlotte Adkins of Bimble; his son; Christopher Adkins and wife, Jacque of Lexington, Kentucky; his daughter; Heather Brockman and husband, Brian of Lexington, Kentucky; grandchildren, Amber Adkins, John Thomas Adkins,Emma Adkins and Ava Brockman; His mother, Elsie Adkins of Corbin; his brother, Dr. Robert S. Adkin of Lexington and many other dear and loving relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for Tommy F. Adkins will be conducted Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 12:00 noon at The Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Darrell Hathcock and Rev. Allen Bonnell officiating. Burial will follow at the Yeager Cemetery with, Kyle Miller, Bobby Adkins, Conner Ford, Dakota McGeorge, Chadd Daniels and Kevin Detherage serving as pallbearers.
Honorary Pallbearers will be, all his breakfast buddies at the Creekmart Store, his friends at the Four Seasons, and his dear neighbors . The Adkins family have suggested contributions may be made to the First Christian Church in Barbourville or to the Humane Society in loving memory of Tommy F. Adkins. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home Tuesday after 6:00 pm and Wednesday after 10:00 am until the funeral hour at 12:00 noon.
