Genevieve C. Rodgers, 93, Mellen, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Mellen Manor Nursing Home. She was born Dec. 30, 1905, at Mellen, the daughter of Amos and Theresa (Rein) Markee.
She attended Mellen schools, graduating from Mellen High School in 1924. She then graduated from Stevens Point State Teachers College in 1926, with a two-year degree in teaching. She was married to James Rodgers on March 6, 1943, at Chicago. She moved to Chicago in 1927 and worked for the Wiebolt Stores there and in Oak Park for over 50 years. She was head cashier for many years. She returned to the Mellen area in 1991 and was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Mellen.
She is survived by two brothers, Kenneth (Florence) Markee; and Keith Markee, both of Mellen. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James, on March 23, 1973; four brothers, Frank, John, Charles and James; and four sisters, Martha, Ella, Margaret and Agnes.
Services are set for Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Mellen, with Fr. John Scheer celebrant.
Burial will be in Mellen Union Cemetery.
