HAROLD ELDON "JUNIOR" BANNON, JR., 71, of Douglass, Kansas, passed away Monday afternoon, May 5, 2014 at Wesley Galichia Heart Hospital in Wichita.
Born January 10, 1943 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Harold Eldon Bannon, Sr. and Winifred Amanda (Groom) Bannon. He was raised and received his education in Douglass, graduating high school in 1960.
He began working for General Electric in 1961 and was a jet engine tester. He retired after 37 years, in 1998. Junior was a member of the National Guard in Winfield. His unit was called into active duty in 1968, and he served 10 months in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne.
Junior was united in marriage to Sharon Northcutt on December 16, 1966 in Arkansas City. He was a member of the Rock Christian Church and was elected an Elder of the church. He was also an active member of the Kansas and Oklahoma Steam and Gas Engine Association. He enjoyed farming and gardening, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and going to their activities.

His grandchildren: Sarah, Noah, Amanda and Kyle.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Red Bud Community Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 P.M. The Family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 that evening.
A Memorial has been established in Junior's name for Cowley County 4-H Shooting Sports. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
