She touched many people with her selfless compassion and boundless love. She taught her family and friends how to find joy in simple things like a perfect autumn leaf or a luscious bite of watermelon.
Nancy was born on January 17, 1927 in Stanford, KY, to Ila Newland Powell and Milton Sweeney Powell. She attended nursing school at the University of Kentucky and worked as a registered nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington until 1960, when she turned her attention to raising her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Lowell Weber; and her sisters, Mary Walker Smith and Ila Ralston.
She is survived by her brother, Bill Powell; daughters, Julia Ann Weber and Virginia Katherine Weber Denny; son-in-law, David Denny; grandchildren, Katherine Elizabeth Denny, Rebecca Jeanne Denny, Elijah Ray McKenzie, and James Marley McKenzie; her best friend, Marilyn Pfanstiel; and her beloved Katy Miller and Anthony Locker. The love and joy that permeated her life will carry on in those who were touched by her.
Her celebration of life will be at noon Tuesday at Trinity Hill United Methodist Church in Lexington. Visitation will be at the church 11 a.m. noon, with burial at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford following the celebration. Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Best Friends Day Center of Lexington or Hosparus of Louisville. Arch L. Heady & Son Westport Road, Louisville has been entrusted with the arrangements.
