Wilmer F. Behnke, age 65, 132 Valley View Dr., Brillion died on Sat. July 1, 2000 at his home, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Sept. 15, 1934 in the town of Rantoul, son of the late Fred W. Jr. and Alice (Klienow) Behnke. On May 24, 1958 he married Deloris Peik at Ebenezer UCC in Chilton.
Wilmer attended Trinity Lutheran School and Brillion High School. He farmed in the town of Rantoul and was co-owner of Potter Farm Supply until retiring in 1991. After retiring he worked part-time for the Larson Co., M&N Portables, and Deer Run Golf Course, Brillion. He was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Brillion, and served of the church council and the stewardship committee. Wilmer loved his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing cards with his many friends.
Survivors include his wife, Deloris, 3 sons & daughters-in-law; Lowell & Jane Behnke, Keith & Kim Behnke, and Lee & Jacqueline Behnke, all of Brillion. His 4 grandchildren: Daniel, Cheryl, Joshua and Austin, a brother Lester (Mernabelle) Behnke, Reedsville and 3 sisters Loretta Krepline, Reedsville, Zapora Able, Brillion, & Dorcella (Milton) Lau, Reedsville. He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Elsie Wesener, Chilton, a sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Nancy & Norman Ott, Brillion, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters & 4 brothers-in-law: Cordula & Walter Maile, Elverna & Al Bartel, Art Krepline, Allen Able, and a sister-in-law Erma Behnke.
Funeral service will be held on Tue, July 4th at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Brillion. The Rev. Ross Henzi will officiate, burial will be at Trinity Cemetery, Brillion. Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral home in Brillion on Mon. from 4-9 p.m. and at the church on Tue. from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
