(His middle name was Keit not Keith as erroneously spelled in his obituary and some documents. And he went by Keit.)

William Keit Toler was the son of James Jefferson Toler (1859-1940) and Lorena Virginia Pickett Toler (1866-1952). He was born in Morrow, LA on 15 Aug 1885 and had the following siblings:

Amelia Sarah Toler (1891-1969), Jack Carol Toler (1893-1969), Verdie Toler (1899-?), Bessie B. or Beatrice Toler (1902-1993), Vida Toler (1902-1993) and Ardie Desmond Toler (1907-1981). There may also have been two additional sisters. He completed 4 years of high school.

At the age of 28, William married Stella Maubry Morrow (1887-1964) in 1913 and they had a farm in Big Cane, LA.

His WWI draft registration record in 1918 describes him as tall, medium build, brown hair and gray eyes. It also stated that he had lost the sight of his left eye disqualifying him for military service.

Sometime between 1918 and 1920, William and Stella had moved to Pointe Coupee Parish, LA where they also had a farm. By 1930, the family had moved to Shreveport, LA and had a grocery store there.

William and Stella had two children: Christine Cleo Toler (1915-1998) and Kent Edward Toler (1918-2008). They lived at 120 1/2 E. 69th Street.

Sadly at the age of 55, William died on 17 Mar 1941 at home of tracheal cancer. A funeral was held in Shreveport and he was later laid to rest at a cemetery in his home town of Morrow, LA.
