HENRY C JEFFRIES

Henry C Jeffries, who was a well known contractor and builder for many years, died at his home 631 East Main Street, Riverhead on Saturday. He was 81 years old. Mrs Jeffries, who was exceptionally active for a man of his years, worked at his trade until quite recently. He was born in Freehold, NJ and had been a highly regarded resident of Riverhead for about 57 years. His wife, Mabel Reeve Jeffries, died a number of years ago. Surviving are two sons, Harry E and Ernest W Jeffries, two daughters, Mrs Mabel Tennenburg, and Miss Mildred Jeffries and a stepdaughter, Mrs Mary Dettner, all of Riverhead, and a stepson, Carl S LeValley of Mattituck. Funeral services were held at Reginald H Tuthill's Funeral Home on Monday afternoon, with the Rev Alfred L Crayton, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in the Riverhead Cemetery.
