Joyce Ann Donaldson Burk, 76, passed away at home April 27, 2014 surrounded by family and friends. She graduated from the University of Maryland and was a lifetime member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She was predeceased by her husband, Lt. Col. Thomas K. ("T.K.") Burk, Jr., USMC Ret. Relocated 12 times before settling in Ashton, Joyce Ann's philosophy was to bloom where planted, and she made lifelong friends at every posting. A textiles and design major, her love of the decorative arts led her into a 35 year career as a sought after estate agent and respected antiques dealer. She is survived by her daughters Jennifer Hill Burk and Rebecca Poe Burk Stewart, her aunt Gertrude ("Trudy") Poe, her son-in-law Vincent Dale Stewart, and grandchildren Kent, Jacob, Sean, Emilee, Lillian, and Cameron Stewart and Lacy Ann Roller. This list does not include the dozens of "kids" Joyce Ann "adopted" over her lifetime. This extended family has meant so much to her in life and even more to her in her final years. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, May 10 at 2 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 16420 S. Westland Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20877. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church's Stephens Ministry. Please note the Burk Memorial in the information line.
