Francis X. Bahl, 101, of Athens, PA, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the Sayre Healthcare Center.
He was born on June 1, 1912 in Dushore, PA the son of the late Charles and Mary Henley Bahl.
Francis was a member of the Church of the Epiphany. He retired from the Ingersoll Rand, Athens Foundry and also was a Fuller Brush Salesman. Francis enjoyed woodworking and he loved to shop and go out to eat. He was well known for always having a smile on his face.
He is predeceased by his first wife Mary Burke Bahl, and ten siblings.
Francis is survived by his wife of 22 years Helen at home, children Mary Alice Eppers of Sayre, PA, step-children Nancy and Paul Saxton of Grand Rapids, MI, Phyllis and Roy Darling of Mehoopany, PA, Calvin and Robin Carter of Bonita Springs, FL, Barbara and Roger Fike of Athens, PA, and Jeannette and Stephen Zang of Gibsonia, PA, grandchildren Dr. Anne and Joseph Robbins of Virginia Beach, VA, John Eppers of Centreville, VA, Louis Eppers of Falmouth, MA, 11 step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren Megan Robbins of Virginia Beach, VA and Jacob Robbins of Virginia Beach, VA, 15 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, sister Edna Lewis of Sayre, PA, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 6pm-8pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 1:30pm at the Church of the Epiphany, 304 South Elmer Ave., Sayre, PA with the Rev. Vincent Langan officiating.
Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Waverly, NY.
