SCIOTOVILLE - CHARLES E. "CHUCK" ABBOTT, 90, of Sciotoville, passed away peacefully Monday, May 5, 2014, at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

Chuck was born August 8, 1923, in Sciotoville, a son of the late John and Edna Cross Abbott.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Joseph Abbott.

He was a retired Guard from the former Goodyear Atomic Plant, a member of the Western-Sun Masonic Lodge in Wheelersburg, he was a longtime member of Sciotoville Christian Church and the Portsmouth East Athletic Boosters. He was married December 1, 1944 at the Sciotoville Christian Church, to Linda Jean Bussa Abbott. Together they were married 69 years and operated the former Abbott's Grocery Store in Sciotoville.

Surviving are a brother, William "Bill" Abbott of Portsmouth; his brothers-in-law, Gareth L. Bussa (Carol) of Portsmouth; Richard Bussa, of Wheelersburg; Herbert Bussa (Eleanor) of the Villages, Florida; 8 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, with Pastor Josh Book officiating, and interment at Memorial Burial Park. Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday, with a Masonic Service to start at 7:30 and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sciotoville Christian Church.
