On April 20, 2007, Blanche B. WATSON, 91, formerly of Montgomery, died at Crowne Health Care in Fort Payne, Alabama. She is finally reunited with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her late husband John Maclaren Watson, who passed away in 1969.
Family and friends will honor Mrs. Watson's life on Wednesday, April 25, at an 11 a.m. graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery, Alabama, and a 2 p.m. Celebration of Life Service at Cloverdale Baptist Church in Montgomery. The service will be led by Dr. Donald LaBelle, James Blakeney and Rev. Donna Airheart-King. The family will welcome friends at 1:00 p.m. at Cloverdale Baptist prior to the Celebration Service.
Mrs. Watson's surviving family includes: son Mac Watson, II, and wife, Sharon, of Columbia, South Carolina; daughter Sue Paulk and husband, Gerald, of Scottsboro, Alabama; grandsons J. Mac Watson, III, and wife, Mary, of Greenville, South Carolina; William Paulk and wife, Sarah, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; and Nathan Paulk, of Lineville, Alabama; great-grandson J. Mac Watson, IV, of Greenville, South Carolina; a niece and several nephews.
Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her parents, Susan and Donald Boyer of Washington, Pennsylvania, and her brother, Don Boyer and his wife, Ruth, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Watson loved the Lord and her church. After she graduated from high school, she traveled 500 miles from home to attend Wheaton College in Chicago, Illinois, from which she graduated in 1937 with a degree in Social Work. Mrs. Watson moved from Ohio with her husband when he began working at Continental Can Company (later known as Brockway Glass Company) in Montgomery. She taught the Winsome Sunday School Class at Cloverdale Baptist Church for many years. She also served as WMU Director and as Choir Director. Mrs. Watson was retired from the American Red Cross where she served as Director of Service to Military Families. She was an active member of the Montgomery Music Study Club. Mrs. Watson also led a Bible study at Cleveland Court for several years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Cloverdale Baptist Church in Montgomery.
