Sarah was the daughter of Emanuel Cryder and his wife, Mary Eve Hess. She married Joshua Marion Ridgway. Shortly after their marriage she and Joshua followed her uncle to Grundy County, Ill. They had two children, Samuel Cryder Ridgway and Emanuel Cryder Ridgway. She died from injuries sustained in a housefire. She was said to have been pregnant at the time.
