SFC Klaus Dieter Rudolf Ruhland's tour of duty began on June 2, 1968. SFC Ruhland was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 5th Special Forces Group. SFC Ruhland died from injuries received when the military aircraft he was aboard crashed eleven kilometers north of Buon Tsuke Airfield in Darlac Province, Vietnam. Twenty-one servicemen were killed in the incident. SFC Ruhland was married and a father.
