A funeral service for Bertha May Banks 72 of Thornville, will be at 1 pm Monday at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home in Newark with Pastor James Addy officiating. Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Banks who retired from Holophane Co. died Jan. 5, 2001 at the Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster. She was born April 26, 1928 in Newark to the late Albert and Eathel (Henderson) Newlon. Mrs. Banks was a member of the Hanover Chapter of the order of the Eastern Star and the Quarter Century Club of Mansfield Corp. She and her late husband were foster parents to many children. She is survived by grandchildren, a daughter in law, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Banks, her son Robert Banks, and brother Creed Newlon.
