Simon Peter Prince was a son of Reubin T. and Crissie Ann Crawley Prince. He was born in Morgan County, Georgia in 1850, and came to Alabama with his family about 1863, when he was a young teenager, where they settled in the Gadsden area. He married Susan Elvina McCauley, whose family had come to Alabama from Georgia in the late 1850's. They were married in Etowah County, Alabama in 1875, and shortly after that moved to Blount County, Alabama, where they remained the rest of their lives. Simon and Vina had eight children - Ora, Olivia, Maggie, Henry, Oscar, Arthur, Doyal, and Herman. Descendants of this couple hold a family reunion each year near Oneonta, Alabama.
